Ali Abbas Zafar Announces Mr India Trilogy With ZEE

Ali Abbas Zafar is a name to reckon in the industry. He’s brought some beautiful stories to the screen with the Salman Khan starrer Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai and others. He is the latest name to the superhero world with a superhero trilogy, Mr. India. Zafar announced the trilogy via a Tweet.

We don’t know much about the trilogy as yet. Zafar confessed that the cast and crew will come into the picture once the script is ready. However, there are rumors about whether Katrina Kaif will be a part of this movie. Earlier, rumors pegged Katrina to star in a horror movie.

Later on, there were rumors that Kat will be starring in a superhero movie with Ali Abbas Zafar as the director. With Zafar making this announcement, speculation is running wild about whether this will be the superhero movie that’ll see Katrina and Zafar collaborate third time around.

There’s also no clarity about whether this Mr. India is a reboot of the iconic sci-fi movie that released in 1987, starring Anil Kapoor, Amrish Puri and Sridevi in the main cast.

Interestingly, none of the tweets have clarified whether its a reboot or a sequel to the classic. But by the sound of it all, this could be the franchise that defines sci-fi for Bollywood. Announcing three movies at one go is a big, laudable task.

The original movie, Mr. India, has an interesting history when it comes to a reboot and sequel as well. Back in the day, Bollywood believed in the ‘one -and-done’ formula. But by the 2000s, when sequels and reboots were passe, there were heavy rumors of a Mr. India reboot or a sequel.

Those rumors became stronger when a Mr. India ride came up at Imagicaa. There was some press when Salman Khan visited the ride. However, since then, there’s no news about that reboot/sequel.
