There’s a new film going to hit the screens in 2020. Antebellum is the name and it’s from the producers of Get Out and Us. The teaser is intriguing and chilling, both in equal parts. The film hints at connecting America’s racist past with the current, post-modern world where everyone stays and survives together. The horror film stars Janelle Monáe, Marque Richardson II, Eric Lange, Jack Huston, Kiersey Clemons, Tongayi Chirisa, Gabourey Sidibe, Rob Aramayo, Lily Cowles, and Jena Malone.

While there’s little to know about the horror film, the term gives some ideas about the story of the film. Antebellum means before the war. The logline is, of course, interesting. Here’s the logline:
“Successful author Veronica (Monáe) finds herself trapped in a horrifying reality and must uncover the mind-bending mystery before it’s too late.”
The teaser also hints at the horror film being about time travel, alternate worlds, and so many more delicious aspects that settle nicely with the sci-fi and the horror genres. Gerard Bush and Christopher Renz direct this film. The duo, better known as Bush + Renz launched their career by shooting videos for fashion and luxury advertising like Harry Winston, Vogue and Porsche. They then went on to direct short films and ad campaigns. They also shot the short film Kill Jay Z and The Glass House.
