Blumhouse Reimagines Fantasy Island As A Horror Film

Blumhouse is taking some of our favorite youth franchises and making them badder and juicier. The latest to join the gang is Fantasy Island, which is now a location horror film. The film’s about people brought to a mysterious island and asked what is their one wish. Someone says that a childhood bully should be punished, yet another one says that her dead daughter should return, so on and so forth. Of course, this is a horror film and of course their wishes come true and of course, everything goes wrong. Oh, and yes, the film releases February 14.

The horror film stars Lucy Hale. Michael Pena Michael Rooker, Charlotte McKinney, Parisa Fitz-Henley and Austin Stowell. The longish trailer gives out the whole story, so we all know what’s happening. Actually, such a trailer proves that the film-maker is totally confident of what the film is all about. Originally, the series ran from the late seventies to the early eighties. The fantasy drama was about people who paid money for fantasy fulfillment. The franchise had a season renewal in 1998. Jeff Wadlow, Chris Roach and Jillian Jacobs write the script and Wadlow directs.

Blumhouse is doing excellent work with the reimagining of old franchises and the retro horror film. I recently wrote about how I was bowled over by the Invisible Man concept. How they took a sci-fi concept into something so relevant is a marvel.
