A typical Bollywood horror film has staple settings. They are either set in a haunted haveli, a haunted urban house, or the person is possessed. That’s changing with the launch of the Vicky Kaushal starrer horror film, Bhoot – Part One. The posters for the horror film have been online since a while now, with the latest poster hitting the interwebs. The poster clarifies that the film is set in a ship, and Vicky Kaushal’s character is fighting for survival.
Vicky’s quite kicked up for the film. He recently posted on his Instagram account that he has rolled up the last scene for the film. He revealed that he fought many of his own fears to shoot the film. Which should not be surprising. Many people have fears of otherwise commonly found objects and even situations. Bhoot Part One hits theaters on November 15. This is the first Bollywood horror film to be shot in two parts, something that was earlier seen only twice in Bollywood – Gangs of Wasseypur and Bahubali. Bhanu Pratap Singh directs the film, which Karan Johar and others produce via Dharma Productions. Zee is a co-producer.
Vicky has signed up for a Bollywood horror film for the first time. Since a past few years, several Bollywood actors, both male and female, have embraced the horror genre. Anushka Sharma recently featured in two horror films, Phillauri and Pari. Shraddha Kapoor, Rajkummar Rao and others gave more legitimacy to the genre with Stree. When the genre actually hit its stride in the eighties, not many actors wanted to collaborate with the directors then.
Now, Hina Khan signed up for a fantasy Horror Hollywood film recently. Also, this is not the first horror film that Dharma Production is associating with. In 2005, Dharma Productions brought to audiences Kaal, a nature-horror film. Therefore, many of the films starred actors and actresses who were not very popular, making it difficult for historians to current horror enthusiasts to make a note of the cast of such films. That’s changing and how!
