Laxxmi Bomb Streaming on Disney+Hotstar Premium Is Unlikely

Laxxmi Bomb is unlikely to stream on Disney+Hotstar Premium. However, it makes perfect sense to launch it on Disney+Hotstar VIP.

Laxxmi Bomb, like every other anticipated Bollywood movie, faces a dark future. The Bollywood horror movie was all set to hit theaters this May, as early as May 24. However, all rumors point to the idea that Akshay Kumar doesn’t want anyone involved with the movie to incur losses. The word all around is that the producers are planning to stream the movie on the newly launched Disney+Hotstar platform.

The lockdown has forced several recently released movies to find themselves on the streaming platform. In the beginning, Neil Nitin Mukesh’s Bypass Road was on Amazon Prime. In a while, the Rishi Kapoor Emraan Hashmi starrer The Body made its way to the streaming platform as well. Disney+Hotstar recently brought the Irrfan Khan starrer Angrezi Medium to their subscribers as well.

While that has raised hopes of the Bollywood horror movie Laxxmi Bomb reaching the online platform, it’s quite unlikely that the movie wills stream only for Disney+Hotstar Premium subscribers. That subscription is steep, priced at 999 INR per year – equivalent to Amazon Prime as well. A movie like Laxxmi Bomb would require a large number of audiences to stream for it to make sense for the streaming channel. So, the saner way is to stream it for Disney+Hotstar VIP subscribers.

Akshay Kumar’s Look in Laxxmi Bomb:

Before Disney took over, Hotstar was premiering movies for the VIP members as well as their premium members. After all, Hotstar’s Premium memberships are bound to be more, as users get access to sports as well, around the year, for around a rupee a day.

For example, Hotstar did launch another Bollywood horror movie Housefull 4 for the VIP members just a month before the lockdown. Laxxmi Bomb is definitely a mass entertainer. It has horror elements as well, so all that works best for the mainstream markets.

Shooting for the Kanchana 2: Muni Bollywood remake started somewhere between January and April 2019. Shooting wrapped up on 1st March, 2020, just before the nation went into lockdown. Whether on Hotstar Premium or VIP, the producers would certainly be very eager to take a call about the release. With audiences waiting for newer movies and content, and the Damocles sword of piracy always hanging over such a major movie, the decision should be fast.
