Bulbbul is the next project for Anushka Sharma,. As I have said earlier, she is one of the newer content creators passionate about horror fiction. She believes in putting her money where her passion lies. Proof of that is the upcoming Netflix Original horror movie, Bulbbul, which she produces through her Clean Slate Films Anushka recently dropped the first look of the upcoming movie. By the looks of it, its should be about witches, and broths and everything else that comes with the territory.

Anushka has catered to the horror audience with her movies previously too. While Phillauri was a light hearted supernatural comedy, Pari is one of the most underrated classic horror movies that Bollywood horror fans got. Though there’s nothing out about the Netflix Original horror movie Bulbbul, it looks like the story’s about a witch in the contemporary world.

The graphic for Bulbbul dropped just a couple of hours ago, so we don’t know anything about the cast and crew. However, Anushka has tagged as host of people, hinting at who the collaborators are. Lookit here:

Netflix has bet big on the Indian horror fiction genre before Bulbbul. In the couple of years that its been active, the channel has launched Ghoul and Ghost Stories. Last month, they launched Betaal, another Indian Horror series from the mind of the same that gave us Ghoul, Patrick Graham.  The streaming platforms have aggressively promoted horror content before the lockdown and during it. Recently, ZEE brought back their ZEE Horror Show. DD National announced yesterday that the channel will rerun Aap Beeti, the BR Chopra directed Indian horror show. These are good times for the Bollywood horror fan.

Along the way, there are at least three big horror projects that are on their way. We have ZEE  working on a horror movie The Wife. We also have a Go, Goa, Gone sequel on our hands. Other than that, there’s always talk about a sequel to Stree happening.
