The new Ghostbusters film, Ghostbusters: Afterlife is gaining hype as one of the most awaited new horror movies. There was this news that the original cast is joining the sequel. That means we will see Bill Murray, Dan Akroyd and Ernie Hudson back in the fold. The film has wrapped up shooting, and the trailer might hit the UK market anytime soon. The US release date for the film has been locked, July 10, 2020.
The new horror movie, titled Ghostbusters: Afterlife, will have the original Ghostbusters bust some more ghosts until they pass the mantle to the next generation. The new generation comprises of Paul Rudd, McKenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Carrie Coon, and others. Jason Reitman directs the screenplay by Gil Kenan and himself.

The buzz this time is positive. Along with the other people/animals-who-bust-ghosts, (Scoob!), this is the franchise that has had enough love all along the globe to have another franchise run. With Scooby-Doo returning in the animation film Scoob! in May, 2020 as well, this year looks very good for horror/supernatural film fans.m
Ghostbusters 2020 will likely ignore the 2016 horror movie in the franchise, Ghostbusters: Answer the Call. The film was controversial for several reasons, including the fact that the Ghostbusters were women. It did not make a lot of money at the box office as well, and the future of the franchise was at stake, until the new film, Ghostbusters 2020 was announced.
Ghostbusters 2020 is a welcome addition to the Ghostbusters! franchise, the second 80s franchise that sees the original cast returning. Earlier, we saw the cast of Hocus Pocus returning to the Disney+ fold. There’s no word on whether that release will be a web series or a movie, but I am sure horror buffs will welcome anything with open arms.
