Doctor Sleep Releases in India in November

Doctor Sleep Hollywood Horror Film

The sequel to one of the most successful Hollywood horror movies The Shining is set to hit Indian theaters in November. Doctor Sleep, is based on the book of the same name. Stephen King wrote the book in 2013, while the original The Shining released in 1973. This makes the time duration between the two books of the franchise one of the longest.  Upon release, Doctor Sleep won the 2013 Bram Stoker Award for Best Horror Novel.  The novel follows Danny Torrance, now living in a hospice and helping the aged and the dying with his supernatural powers. Doctor Sleep stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Fergusson, Carl Lumby and others. Mike Flanagan directs. Watch the trailer here:

The Shining is one of the influential Hollywood horror movies. Critics consider the coming together of Jack Nicholson and Stephen King‘s story to be one of the best things to happen to the horror film industry. Horror film enthusiasts still talk about the distinct world that Stanley Kubrick created in this Hollywood horror film. This was also the last appearance for Jack Nicholson in a full blown horror film. However, two of his sequences make for great memes. The one where his character smashes open the door with an axe became an immediate rage. The other one, when he’s fallen down in the show became popular as well.

Stephen King, as we have previously noted, is the darling of streaming and tentpole films. Last year, streaming content creators adapted three of King’s novels into series and an original film.  In production are the web series Mr. Mercedes Season 2, The Outsider and several, several others.
