Say what you will about Nicholas Cage, I will always have a soft spot for him. He was my favorite in the nineties and I also liked him in the Ghostrider franchise. I agree, the second film was underwhelming, but it wasn’t without its interesting moments. Now, Nic is back with an out and out horror film, Color out of Sky. The name’s weird, but the story’s interesting and right out there. Billed as from author, H P Lovecraft, the horror film is about a family that shifts only to find strange things happening in their vicinity. And no, it’s not a haunted house, but an alien organism that invades their environment and finally, them. Nic plays the papa, and the rest of the cast includes Joely Richardson, Madeleine Arthur, Brendan Meyer, Julian Hilliard, Elliot Knight with Q’Orianka Kilcher and Tommy Chong. Richard Stanley directs. The film releases on 24th January.
Richard Stanley has a rich filmography behind him, so this should be interesting. He has earlier made films like Hardware, Dust Devil, Brave, The Island of Dr. Moreau, The Abandoned, Imago Mortis and some others that’d make any horror film lover’s heart flutter.
Watch Color out of Space Trailer:
It’s good to see Nic acting in a horror film. Of course, this film isn’t any random one. It is a Lovecraftian story. Many new content creators are taking inspiration from the books of yore, and there’s no better author than Lovecraft for horror films, sci-fi and everything this website is about. While many retro franchises are returning, the horror genre is always welcoming to new franchises and fresh stories.
