Mortal Kombat is the latest retro franchise that’s coming to us as a reboot. This is also the first game themed movie that’s getting a reboot. After all, we are in the midst of retro themes being rebooted bubble. The game and the movie, when launched, changed the entire terrain of entertainment. There are rumors that the movie will be R rated. However, with the excessive violence in the game, the verdict about whether it will be able to do justice to the entire concept isn’t out still.

We do have confirmation now that the film is a hard R rated movie. This is good news for Mortal Kombat fans. Even when the nineties movies released, there were questions about how the movie would justify the very violent game. Unfortunately, both the movies took a campy look at the entire franchise. Hopefully, that’s not the case with the upcoming Mortal Kombat movie. The cast includes:
- Joe Taslim as Sub Zero.
- Ludi Lin as Liu Kang
- Tadanobu Asano as Loird Raiden
- Hiroyuki Sanada as Sub Zero
- Chin Han as Shang Tsung
- Josh Lawson as Kano
Simon McQuoid directs the Mortal Kombat movie which will hit theaters on 15 January, 2021.
There are two Mortal Kombat movies as yet. One, the most memorable one, that released in 1996, when interest in the game was at a mercurial high. The next movie, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation didn’t live up to the expectations and frequently makes the list of worst movies ever made.
