.Jason Bateman became our darling with the Netflix series Ozark. Of course, he’s got a phenomenal filmography even before that, with my favorites being The Invention of Lying and Hancock. Now, Bateman is looking to get into the thriller zone with the contained horror movie genre. The tentative title of the movie is Shut In. Shut In features a woman and her kids who have to combat the woman’s horrible ex. Bateman is directing and will not be acting in the horror movie.
Shut In will go on the floors in January 2020, so we should expect the movie sometimes at the end of the next year, if all goes well and if the moviemakers want to hit the October 31 date. Bateman will also produce the horror movie, along with Michael Costigan, Dan Farah, Roy Lee, and Dallas Sonnier. New Line has come on board as executive producer.
I think the home invasion genre hasn’t yet got its piece de resistance, even though there’s at least one every decade or so, whether its Panic Room or Hush. I also think Hush kind of regenerated interest in the sub-genre, so Jason Bateman should have some excellent directional skills to add to this story.
