Jurassic World: Dominion is the latest entry in the Jurassic Park franchise. The Hollywood horror scifi movie should hit theaters in June, 2021, but there’s no clarity about that date. Shooting stopped sometime in March due to the pandemic. Universal might become the first major studio to resume shooting of its projects, with the first being the upcoming Jurassic movie. According to this report in Bloody-Disgusting, the suits at Universal confirm that the shooting will begin in Mid June.

Universal is working out the dots and the dashes as yet. Actors Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard will complete the fourteen day quarantine period after they arrive in the UK to resume shooting. That’s two weeks of valuable location shooting dates that are gone. While Universal is looking for a mid-June date, Netflix Original Stranger Things 4 is looking to resume shooting this Fall.

Jurassic Park was an incredible grosser all over the world and in India. The movie was a legit pop culture phenomenon when it released in India.  It was one of the first Hollywood movies that unleashed a rain of merchandise, both legal and bootleg. Every nineties kid had at some kind of Jurassic Park inspired merchandise, from stickers to school bags. All the movies of the franchise have seen a release in India. The latest movies, Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom rode on the Chris Pratt popularity in India and did good business. This made the franchise one of the few 90s franchises that returned to an ever loving audience.

Coronavirus wiping out economies, it will be interesting to see how dedicated producers remain to the big ticket movies like the Jurassic franchise. Audiences want to watch such movies in the theaters. Here’s hoping for the best!
