Lapachhapi Hits ZEE5 on This Date

Lapachhapi hits ZEE5, the streaming platform on 8th May.

Lapachhapi, the Marathi horror movie is a landmark in the Marathi movie industry. The movie is one of the first horror movies in a long time. The sleeper hit movie has increased interest in Marathi horror movies.

Before the lockdown, there were at least two Marathi horror movies in production and one about to release. While we don’t know the fate of those movies, Lapachhapi is all set to get a new lease of life when it releases on May 8 on ZEE5, the streaming arm of ZEE TV.

Watch Lapachhapi Trailer:

Lapachhapi is my personal favorite because it’s one of the few movies with a mission that explored the horror genre. It tackled an important Indian society evil of female foeticide through the horror movie lens. It’s mandatory viewing for filmmakers as well, as the tight budget is definitely something that will inspire newer content creators.

Lapachhapi is about a young couple, of whom the wife is pregnant, who needs to lay low for a few days. They travel to the husband’s village and decide to stay with a kindly, old couple’s house.  But all is not as it seems, and the couple soon ends up battling for their lives, when strange things start occurring in the house, thousands of miles away from the comforts of their urban home and lifestyle.

Vishal Furia directs Lapachhapi, which stars Pooja Sawant, Anil Gawas, Vikram Gaikwad, and others. Vishal is now working on Bali his second Marathi horror movie that will hit the theaters soon. Bali stars Swapnil Joshi and others. According to sources, the production for Bali has wrapped up and the movie’s in post-production now.
