Milla Jovovich is back in the limelight with the upcoming monster hunting movie, aptly titled Monster Hunter. The movie takes inspiration from the the popular RPG by Capcom, of the same name. The movie has an elite military force battling gigantic beasts in strange lands.  First, they need to survicve, Then, they have to ensure the planet’s survival by closing down a portal  between Earth and the strange land.  Jovovich plays Captain Artemis and the rest of the cast is Ron Perlman, Diego Boneta, Meagan Good and Tony Jaa. Just the idea of Tony Jaa, Milla and Ron in one frame is getting me excited. Paul W.S Anderson directs this movie. Paul has earlier directed Mortal Kombat, Resident Evil and Alien Vs. Predator.

Monster Hunter, starring Milla Jovovich,  looks like one of those movies that are waiting for a wide release post the lockdown. Shooting for the movie wrapped up in 2018 and is set to release in September, 2020. I am sure that the pandemic lockdown will be behind us by September. Jovovich has a huge following in India, following her theater-proof franchise, Resident Evil. She’s almost an household name here, which became more popular with her performance in Hellboy 3. So I am pretty sure Monster Hunter will find its way to the Indian theaters as well.

We don’t really have a go-to Monster franchise in recent years. Jurassic Park is AAA+, so it doesn’t cater to the delicious tooth that we have when it comes to Big Movies. Pacific Rim 1 and 2, both, did the job but left us wanting just a little bit more. I think Monster Hunter is just what the doctor ordered for the Big Movie genre.
