Surivival horror is a genre that requires a lot of money to produce. You need an island – or something like that – there’s a lot of cast members – because some of them are gonna die, so on and so forth. There are few channels today who can put in that kind of money and Netflix is one of them. So, it’s good news that Netflix has launched a surival Limited web series, The I-Land. As expected, the trailer will remind audiences of the iconic series Lost. However, this time around, seems that the story is more linear and more towards the action-survival part of it, rather than the suspense part of it. Here’s the synopsis:
When ten people wake up on a treacherous island with no memory of who they are or how they got there, they set off on a trek to try to get back home. They soon discover this world is not as it seems. Faced with the I-Land’s extreme psychological and physical challenges, they must rise to their better selves — or die as their worst ones.
The Netflix series stars Alex Pettyfer, Ronald Peet, Kyle Schmid, Kota Eberhardt, Sibylla Deen, Anthonly Lee Medina, Gilles Geary, and Michele Veintimill. Here’s the trailer:
There’s absolutely no doubt that the reviewers as well as the audience will compare I-Land to Lost. After all, one cannot forget the unique footprint that Lost put on the entire TV industry and on the aspect of supernatural series. Netflix will begin streaming I-Land on the 12th of September. My experience says that Netflix will have at least another season or two already in the mind for this one, if not in production already.
