Nusrat Bharucha joins the horror alumni by signing up for the Bollywood remake of the smash hit Marathi horror movie, Lapachhapi. This will be Crypt TV’s project, who made a surprisingly silent entry into the Indian market a few months ago. In an interview, Crypt TV had said that they would like to work with Abhishek Bachchan.  That might happen next, but right now, Vishal Furia, the director of the horror movie that Marathi horror to the fore should take a bow.

According to the reports pouring in, Nusrat Bharucha will play the lead role in the movie. I am guessing that mean she will play the role that Pooja Sawant played to such an incredible high. It would be interesting to see who the rest of the cast is. Lapachhapi is a classic horror production, if not a classic horror movie. The movie is by and large set in one mud hut and the timeframe of the entire movie is two days.  Such a script demands only the best of the best of Bollywood. And with this, Vishal Furia’s script finally becomes a legit Bollywood horror movie. 🙂

With Crypt TV making an entry into the Indian horror genre and Blumhouse making an entry with the Netflix Original Betaal, these are going to be dizzying times for the Indian horror fan. Nusrat Bharucha is a phenomenal actress and has proved herself in movies like Pyaar ka Punchnama and Sonu Ke Titu Ke Sweety. However, this will be a challenging role for her and quite unique from the other recent movies that she’s popular for.
