One of my favorite memories growing up was the eerie Orion logo running on my VCR and TV. I hear now that the famed logo of Orion Pictures is coming back, and that too with a horror film! According to Bloody-Disgusting, The film’s name is Most Evil. The synopsis promises a wafer thin concept, like the Hollywood horror movies of yore. You know what that means – more gore and slasher fun than we can have in a hour or so. The synopsis’ available, but it mucks up my SEO. So here’s what the film is all about:
A group of robbers turn kidnappers after a robbery gone wrong forces them to kidnap a young woman. Of course, the woman is not as innocent as she seems and of course everyone reading it is already looking forward to the horror film. Daniel Robbins, the brains behind the horror film Pledge will direct this film. Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Fred Berger will produce on behalf of Automatik.
Orion Pictures, which filed for bankruptcy back in the nineties, is now an MGM subsidiary. The move shocked many in the nineties – and would be unheard of today. After all, Orion is the brand that gave us cult favorites like The Terminator, Robocop, The Silence of the Lambs and Rambo: First Blood.
If these names got you on a nostalgia drive, here’s the Orion video:
The next project that might bear the Orion logo is Gretel & Hansel, the reimagining of the fairy tale. Oz Perkins directs that horror film, which stars Sophia Lillis and Rian Cahill. There’s not much information about both these films at this time. It’s good to see that Orion is retaining its ‘interesting pictures’ genre, even when its coming back decades later. That’s one more brand for me to keep in touch with and one more for the horror fans to search over at Google on a light day. I think this could be a couple of Hollywood horror movies lining up, actually.
