Rishi Kapoor and Emraan Haashmi come together for The Body

Rishi Kapoor has had some interesting films in his filmography, but he hasn’t really gone full horror. He was part of the smash-hit Nagina, a snake-reincarnation horror film, so he is a Horror alum. So, his next film, The Body, becomes very interesting. Billed as a murder mystery, the trailer has horror elements and stars horror alum Emraan Haashmi. The film’s got just a trailer as yet. The rest of the cast comprises of Sobhita Dhulipala and Vedhika.  While there’s not much revealed about the film, Vedhika posted a poster of the film, which again hints at it being a modern Bollywood crime thriller.

Rumors all around say that the film’s a Bollywood crime thriller- and the trailer seems like there will be horror elements. Rishi has been part of some of the most exciting Bollywood crime thrillers in his time, like Bol Radha Bol (1992), Khel Khel Mein (1975), the iconic Karz (1980) and the woefully underrated Khoj (1989).

Surprisingly, Bollywood doesn’t have many crime thriller movies and murder mysteries. There are several reasons for that. Producers feel that the murder mysteries don’t have a rewatch value. Also, murder mysteries have murder, so family audiences don’t exactly vie to watch it. That more than halves the audience. One of the few murder mysteries that really worked at the box office was Gupt. But that film worked more because of the music and the very modern direction and less because it was a murder mystery. The film became iconic because of the identity of the murderer, which I am not going to reveal here because you should watch the film if you haven’t.

Viacom18 Studios along with Azure Entertainment brings this Bollywood crime thriller to audiences.
