Salman Khan To Make a Fantasy Trilogy?

Salman Khan rumors are enough to shake the news cycle. He’s been on an announcing spree, but here’s a rumor about Salman Khan that’s got my interest. According to, Salman Khan is planning to make a fantasy/adventure franchise, like Harrison Ford’s Indiana Jones.

Newer audiences won’t connect Salman with the fantasy genre, but he has had his fair share of that with his movies in the nineties. He has paired with Sridevi for the supernatural/fantasy Chandramukhi in 1990.  In 1992, he was Suryavanshi, in a Bollywood fantasy movie that also starred Sheeba and Amrita Singh. A decade ago, he was part of the swords-and-sandals movie Veer. He hasn’t really pursued these genres, so the Indiana Jones-like trilogy comes as a surprise.

The reports are talking about how the franchise will take inspiration from Indiana Jones. So maybe, they mean that Salman will play an adventurer who has some villains trying to do him in and take whatever artifacts he discovers all over the world.

The Indiana Jones franchise has three core movies at its heart, Raiders of the Lost Ark (1981), Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (1984) and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade (1989). Since then, one other Indiana Jones movie hit theaters, Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull in 2018. That movie was a success at the box office. A fifth Indy movie will hit theaters in 2021.

Bollywood definitely needs the big names coming to the lesser-used genres like fantasy and supernatural. Salman Khan has never performed in an out and out horror movie as yet, so let’s see where this goes.
