The horror fraternity is seeing tremendous growth. These are good times for the horror fan. We now have ScareCon Mumbai, a convention dedicated to the horror genre. The event promises an exciting experience for everyone who’s attending. The event will take place on the 3rd of November at World Trade Center, Mumbai.  India’s only registered Parapsychology Society, the Parapsychology And Investigations Research Society, host ScareCon. Certified Paranormal Investigator and Demonologist, Sarbajeet Mohanty and Certified Metaphysician & Psychic, Pooja Vijay are the founders of PAIRS.

Two books, City of Screams,  Harper Collin’s India’s Most Haunted will have a launch at ScareCon India. There’s also cosplay, Open Mic, and Haunted Attractions. Speaking at the event will be Vishal Furia, the director of the Marathi horror film Lappachappi, Neil D’Silva, author of best selling horror novels like Maya’s New Husband, Yakshini and the latest, City of Screams.  Sign up for the event via this link.

Since the past two years, the horror genre is becoming a media favorite. We see franchises going the horror way. We see now horror franchises coming up. In fact, we are even seeing foreign horror franchises coming to India. The popularity and success of streaming platforms have greatly influenced this phase. Every streaming platform has a clump of horror short films and horror series running or announced. That’s evident with the panel of speaks as well. Along with Vishal, there’s Vikram Khakkar, who made Dobara: See Your Evil, India’s first adaptation of a Hollywood horror film. There’s also K Hari Kumar, the screenwriter of the ZEE5 web series Bhram and Jitendra Pawar, the director of the film, Trip to Bhangarh. Siddharth Jain, the creator of Ragini MMS and founder of Story Ink is also among the panelists.
