Dracula is one of the most enduring characters in horror genre history. He’s coming back as a mini tv series and web series, thanks to BBC One. The mini series, Dracula, just got a teaser trailer. Its one of the most horrifying I have seen, ever. Adding grotesque is the in thing with horror films nowadays. The latest Hollywood horror film, The Girl on the Third Floor, had some great prosthetic work to show off horror. You can read that review here.
Watch the Dracula teaser here:
Claes Bang portrays Dracula in this BBCOne web series. This mini-series is not for the fainthearted. It pays attention to one of the most widely known but never explored aspects of a vampire. The teaser reminds us, in all its bloody detail, that Dracula is about drinking the blood. The creators give a macro picture of how that fluid transfusion happens – in all its goriness and pukish detail. Dracula was enemy number one, so we have that covered too – with nuns with stakes out. Mark Gatiss and Stephen Moffat bring visual grotesqueness that the concept demands. The two brought back Sherlock out of the cliched morass it was stuck in for two decades. If they succeed in bringing out Dracula from the sex-and-fiend morass, there will be no surprises.
The most famous Dracula incarnation was the nineties film Bram Stoker’s Dracula. There are more than 150 films with the character of Dracula, but the most famous is, of course, the film titled Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
