SonyLIV Announces Slew of New Series, No Original Horror Series

SonyLIV surprised everyone with their announcement of new shows and a new logo not having a single horror themed series or movie.

SonyLIV, the online arm of the Sony GEC channel has long been championing the cause of  Bollywood series in India. The channel is home to the original Sony series Aahat, one of the first Indian horror series.  Along with Aahat, SonyLIV also streams the classic Sony series like CID and the newer ones like Crime Patrol.

Today, SonyLIV announced a new logo and a slew of new series. The various series that hit the announcement plate are in the crime and the legal genre. Surprisingly, the streaming channel doesn’t have any classic or even modern horror genre series out there.

This comes as a big surprise from SonyLIV, especially when every streaming platform is adding horror genre content to their inventory like never before. Even the foreign platforms like Amazon Prime and Netflix have their fair share of horror content. In fact, Netflix dropped their big ticket Indian horror series, Betaal, a few days ago to mixed reviews.

On the other hand, ZEE TV has announced the next season of their successful horror series, Fear Files. The series broadcasts from May 26, every Monday to Saturday. I am pretty sure that the series will soon make its way to the online arm of the ZEE juggernaut, ZEE5, as well.
