Spiral From the Book of Saw Trailer Is Underwhelming

Saw was one of the most instrumental slasher horror movies. It redefined what audiences wanted from slasher flicks. A decade after the last movie in the Saw franchise hit theaters, Chris Rock is producing a reboot – Spiral: From the Book of Saw. The trailer for the Hollywood horror movie dropped a while ago and there’s one word I use to describe it – underwhelming.

Watch Spiral: From the Book of Saw Trailer:

Now, underwhelming is not a term I’d use for a movie that stars Samuel L.Jackson, but the trailer makes the movie look like an overproduced, soulless movie that will be as woke as it can be.

Think about it, even after S Legend uses the ‘M’ word, nothing in there did anything to stir my soul. Add to that a Chris Rock who looks nothing like he did in those Rush Hour movies squinting his eyes in the same degree to denote that something wicked this way comes – and I get an inkling of what’s going on with the movie.

The trailer is clear enough. There’s a serial killer who’s targeting cops. Samuel L Jackson plays an older character who’s in the killer’s crosshair. Chris Rock plays a younger police officer who’s caught in the crossfire because he’s investigating the murders.

We need a Saw reboot, there are no two ways about it.  Blumhouse is reviving classic fantasy and horror like the Hollywood horror movies Fantasy Island and The Invisible Man. Apart from that, I’d like someone to remake or reboot the post-modern horror franchises like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Final Destination.

Spiral From The Book of Saw hits theaters on 15 May 2020.
