The Hunt is one of those unfortunate movies caught up in the middle of politics and outrage. The movie was to hit theaters in September last year but never made it to the theaters. There’s’ still hope though. It has a stellar cast and is an adaptation of a short story. The Hunt stars Betty Gilpin, Ike Barinholz, Emma Roberts, Hilary Swank, and others.
If you’re wondering what brought about a stop to the hunt, a look at the trailer should give you the answer, which you can watch here:
The synopsis is better: A group of ‘normal’ people ends up in a resort kinda place. A group of elites is out to hunt them. The trailer also tells you the logic behind these weird hunger games. The elite rich own the whole world anyway, so what’s the harm in using human beings as a sport for themselves.
The film’s release came to a stop after the Dayton and El Paso shootings, in which different gunmen shot nine and twenty-two people respectively. Surprisingly, the movie also won the wrath of the US President, Donald Trump.
The history behind the shelving is interesting as well. The results of the test screenings of this Blumhouse (yes, those guys) Production are in controversy as well. Some say that the results came out negative and viewers expressed discomfort about the politics evident in the movie. Some say that the test results were the best for any Blumhouse original production to date.
Well, at least the reason behind the movie’s shelving is a real-life event. We still haven’t got to see X-Zone, a Bollywood horror movie that Prasoon Joshi banned as the Censor Board chief.
