Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi is a Bollywood suspense movie that hit theaters in 1992. The movie has a good cast and a story that was unique for the Indian audiences. The cast comprised of Jeetendra, Sadashiv Amrapurkar, Meenakshi Sheshadri, Sharmilee, Vijendra Ghadke and others.
Suspense movies are rare to come by in Bollywood. The list of Bollywood suspense movies pales in comparison to the action and romance movies that Bollywood makes. Producers stopped making suspense movies. The genre became a sub-genre to the horror genre in Bollywood, including actors and crew. Here’s everything you would want to know about Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi.
A rich, corrupt Thakur has gained a lot of enemies in his life. One of them is an employee who has stolen money from him. Another is a businessman who has lost his land to his unsavory ways. And then, there’s at least one woman who has fallen prey to his lust.
He doesn’t have a very good family life as well. He is in spite of his wife at all times. His brother, Sunil, doesn’t look up to him and has just an inkling of his evil ways. As is the end of evil, he ends up dead and it looks like nobody wants to know who the murderer is, except his brother. A special investigating officer, Sunil, begins his investigation into the murder and finds out about the man’s unsavory past.
And as the investigation begins, everyone even remotely involved with the man begin covering their tracks. The common consensus is that the spirit of a woman who he sexually molested and murdered is the murderer.
Now, Vijay, the younger brother is the murderer’s next target. Will Sunil succeed in saving him? Who is the murderer? And is it correct to take the life of someone who has troubled you no end? To find out the answers to the former question, you need to watch Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi.
Watch Bollywood Suspense Movie Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi:
Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi is a well made Bollywood suspense movie. It has enough twists and false leads to capture the audience’s interest. Where it falls flat, is the climax and the revelation of the murderer. Once again, Bollywood falls flat with the one aspect everyone wants in their murder mysteries – a larger role of the actual murderer. The murderer actually comes around for like five minutes in the movie that has a runtime of more than two hours. Not something the audience would like.
Jeetendra does a good job of playing an experienced investigating officer. Its interesting to see the kind of flamboyance that Jeetendra brought to movies he starred in, including Maa. Meenakshi Sheshadri successfully brings her character to life. Sadashiv Amrapurkar, as the Thakur has a small role but makes an impact.
I like the movie because its one of the few in Bollywood that have a hated person as the victim and not someone who dies because of someone’s evil deeds. If this reminds you of Murder on the Orient Express, you are in my league.
Yeh Raat Phir Na Aayegi is a good mix of faux supernatural and a murder mystery. There’s some backstory added to give the character more skin, which is par for the course when it comes to Bollywood movie anyway.
