Diamond Comics is a much loved brand for Indians and comic lovers. An entire generation grew up on the adventures of Chacha Chaudhary, Sabu, Biloo, Pinki and other much loved characters. Chacha Chaudhary  is the most famous. He also made his way to the tv screens a few years later.  The comics are not easily available as its counterpart, the Amar Chitra Katha projects like Tinkle.  That seems to be changing with Diamond Comics available online. You can now buy annual subscriptions to their titles like Chacha Chaudhary, Billoo, and even single copies over here.

Chacha Chaudhary became a phenomenon in India in the late eighties and even until the nineties.  He was the first diminutive, older character who used  brains to win over his enemies. He rarely used the brawns of Sabu.  That was a refreshing change from the action oriented comic books of the foreign comic book companies.  Foreign comic books were imported, making their prices out of reach of kids buying comic books from their pocket money.  So, Chacha Chaudhary became an endearing character of every Indian’s childhood for almost two decades.

The website is not user friendly right now. The transaction experience is downright archaic. You need to manually register, put in your address details and the transaction goes on through CCAvenue. I am sure the guys over at Diamond Comics are working towards changing this as soon as possible. There’s a very good fan following of indie and homebrewn comic book titles. In fact, a few months ago, there was chatter that one of the Indian comic characters, Nagraj, will make his screen debut soon.  However, there’s no news about that any longer.
